February 2, 2002 Dear Student, On behalf of the Pilipino Alumni Association of UCLA and the PAA Scholarship Honors Selection Committee, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in the Pilipino Alumni Association of UCLA’s Annual Scholarship Honors. PAA of UCLA, established in 1993, provides the vehicle through which alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of UCLA connect to support each other, the UCLA Pilipino community, and the Pilipino community at large. PAA strives to build a strong foundation of members to ensure that our great futures are achieved. We feel providing scholarships to current Pilipino students establishes one avenue of ensuring success. PAA values student dedication to education and awards scholarships in order to honor outstanding academic achievements, leadership, and community service. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to showcase your successes by providing us with a complete and candid picture of yourself. We assure you that, although the selection process is highly selective, each application is read with the care, deliberation, and seriousness it deserves. Scholarship applications must be delivered to A-311 Murphy Hall by 5 PM on April 10 in a sealed manila envelope labeled PAA Scholarship Honors: Attention Lovell Sevilla to ensure confidentiality. Selected applicants will be contacted for interviews. Interviews will be scheduled for April 29 and 30 on the evenings. (PiCS applicants will be contacted for a Q&A mixer.)
